3 1/2 inches wide, and of such height that weather‐ stripping insert will contact inner face of door. Threshold shall include rabbeted design with replaceable neoprene insert in step. Zero #563 Rabbeted Saddle is one of the products that meets these Specifications.

(5) Weather‐stripping at Door Jambs and Head. Provide continuous weather‐ stripping at all edges of doors. Provide only those units where resilient seal strips are easily replaceable and readily available from the manufacturer. Construction shall include flexible neoprene bulb insert in extruded aluminum channel with Snap‐On cover, hidden fasteners, and surface‐mounted design. Zero #475 is one of the products that meet these Specifications.

c. Installation.

(1) Hardware Mounting Heights. Mount units of hardware at heights indicated in "Recommended Locations for Building Hardware for Standard Steel Doors and Frames" by the Door and Hardware Institute.

(2) Procedures.

(a) Install each item per manufacturer's instructions.

(b) Set units level, plumb and true to line and location. Adjust and reinforce the attachment substrate as necessary for proper installation and operation.

(d) Drill and countersink units which are not factory prepared for anchor fasteners. Space fasteners in accordance with industry standards.

(e) Set thresholds in full bed of butyl‐rubber or polyisobutylene mastic sealant.

13E.5 INSULATION.

a. Material. Wall and ceiling installation shall be fiberglass batt insulation faced with coated Kraft paper. Insulation batts shall have staple flanges. The batts shall be nominally 6 inches thick, with R‐19 insulation value.Batt width shall be compatible with stud spacing.

b. Installation. Install insulation batts between all studs and joists such that batts will retain full thickness. Stuff loose fiberglass insulation into cracks impossible to fill with batts.Compress loose insulation no tighter than 50 percent of normal volume when needed to hold it in place.

SUPPLEMENTAL STATEMENT OF WORK

FOR ASBESTOS VINYL FLOOR TILE (VFT) REMEDIATION

FOR THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION

PART 1.0 ‐ GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY OF WORK.

The licensed Asbestos Abatement Contractor, referred to as the “Contractor” herein, shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment, and perform all work required to properly remove and dispose of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) as specified in this Statement of Work (SOW)/specification. The work shall comply with Federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA (29 CFR 1926 and 29 CFR 1910), EPA NESHAP (40 CFR Part 61), EPA AHERA (40 CFR Part 763), EPA’s Worker Protection Rules, and FAA policies. Where conflicts exist between the contents of this SOW/specification and applicable regulations, the most stringent requirement(s) shall apply. Any actions taken by the Contractor without obtaining guidance from the FAA Contracting Officer (CO) will become the sole risk and responsibility of the Contractor. All costs incurred due to such action will be the responsibility of the Contractor.

Below is a brief description of the estimated quantities of asbestos materials to be abated. These quantities are for informational purposes only and are based on the best information available at the time of the SOW/specification. The Contractor must verify the actual quantities to be abated prior to the start of the project.

The asbestos abatement project consists of the following:

A. The Contractor shall remove and dispose of: approximately 300 square feet of asbestos containing 12”x12” floor tile and mastic in the first floor equipment room using the heat removal process only.

B. The Contractor shall develop an Asbestos Abatement Plan. See Section 1.5 for details.

C. The FAA Contractor’s Officer Technical Representative/Resident Engineer (COTR/RE) will be onsite during the project. The FAA will also retain a third party consulting firm, referred to as the Environmental Contractor herein, to provide technical consultation and air sampling before, during, and after the project. The Contractor and Contractor's personnel must fully cooperate with the FAA COR/RE and Environmental Contractor.

D. The asbestos abatement contractor shall attend and participate in onsite meetings, such as the pre‐bid and pre‐construction meeting as required throughout the project.

E. The Contractor shall be responsible for the continuous protection of this facility and its employees and will immediately notify the COTR/RE in the event of unsafe conditions or acts created by the work. The Contractor shall coordinate all abatement activities with the COTR/RE in order to prevent disruption of operations at the facility. The Contractor will comply with all FAA risk management policies and procedures during the project.

F. The Contractor is responsible for ensuring that his/her employees and all subcontractors comply with the contents of this SOW/specification and applicable regulatory requirements for the duration of the work, including the project Asbestos Contingency Plan.

G. Contractor access will be limited to those areas necessary for completion of asbestos abatement work and allowed by the FAA.
