Week Ending June 11, 2023

6/14/2023 Page 1 of 1

# Question Answer 1 We are very excited to discover the grant and intend to apply. However, we want to ensure that the term creative arts includes the LOC resources on American poets and poetry, which are the focus of our educational digital project.

Per Section A of the Notice of Funding Opportunity, the Library of Congress invites education-focused organizations knowledgeable about teaching about and/or creating music and other creative arts to apply for 12-month cooperative agreements, of up to $100,000 each, to develop digitally-enabled learning initiatives for secondary education based on creative arts-driven instructions, especially focused on music, in history, civics and democracy.

2 I lead a musical project. We do educational youth development work at the intersection of music education, activism and social justice.

Are individuals eligible for this grant? if not, would having fiscal sponsorship make me eligible for it?

Per Section C of the Notice, eligible applicants must be organizations based in any of the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, territories, and commonwealths. Individuals may serve as Key Personnel and direct the project on behalf of an organization, but they cannot apply to this opportunity without organizational support.

3 Can nonpublic schools apply? Per Section C of the Notice, public or private organizations, and both not-for profit and for-profit organizations including institutions of higher education and K-12 school districts, are eligible to apply.

4 We have some questions about the Lewis- Houghton Civics and Democracy Initiative NOFO. We look forward to receiving your responses.
