SECTION 011000 – SUMMARY
PART 1 - GENERAL
| A. | Project Identification: EZ Tree Cooler A/C Replacement. | ||
| 1. | Address: | Hiawatha National Forest | |

| 9200 South Ranger Road, Brimley, MI 49715. | |||
| B. | Purpose of work: | ||
| 1. | Replacement of two each existing outdoor condenser units with matching interior evaporator units. | ||
| C. | Description of work: |
1. The principal features of the work to be performed under these specifications includes:
a. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for replacing two each condensing units and associated evaporator units. This will include piping, electrical connections, thermostat, silfos, refrigerant, and nitrogen. This will include the removal of the old refrigerant. The new and existing line sets will be cleaned and leak tested. Test and recharge the system with new refrigerant and ensure proper operation. Disposal of all old equipment, refrigerant, piping, etc. Cleanup daily and at completion of work.
b. The new condensing and evaporator units shall be or equal to: Bohn Model Number BCH0030MBACZA0000 condensing units with matching evaporators.
| D. | Site Visit: All quoters are required to inspect the existing equipment and site before submitting their quote. The quoters shall contact Todd Kenyon at Office Phone 906-298-8127 or Email todd.kenyon@usda.gov to schedule a site visit. |
| E. | Submittals: Before ordering equipment, the Contractor shall provide submittals for the equipment that they are proposing for replacement. |
| F. | Performance schedule: Contract time shall be 60 calendar days (2 months) including material delivery time. Notice to proceed and suspend/resume work orders will be issued as required to allow time to order materials. The Contractor shall be required to start work and/or order equipment within 10 days of the effective date on the Notice to Proceed and shall provide a minimum of 72 hours advance notice to the CO prior to beginning work. The Contractor shall prepare and submit proposed progress schedule within 5 days of the effective date on the Notice to Proceed. All work shall be completed by April 1, 2026. |
| G. | Measurement and Payment: Lump Sum Quantities (LSQ) – These quantities denote one complete unit of work as required by or described in the contract; including materials, equipment, labor, and incidentals necessary to complete the job. They will not be measured; progress payments can be processed based upon the completed percentage of the LSQ. |
| H. | Workmanship: The CO shall be the sole judge of workmanship; the CO will use standard construction standards and practices as a basis for judgments. |
| I. | Protection of personnel and property: The Contractor shall be responsible for repairing or replacing FS property that is damaged by construction activities in a manner acceptable to the CO. |
| 1.2 | WORK RESTRICTIONS |
| A. | Contractor's Use of Premises: During construction, Contractor will have limited use of work area indicated. Contractor's use of premises is limited by Owner's right to perform work or employ other contractors on portions of Project and as follows: |
| 1. | Perform construction only during normal working hours (8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday thru Friday, other than holidays), unless otherwise agreed to in writing by the Contracting Officer (CO). Clean up work areas and return to usable condition at the end of each work period. |
| 2. | Storage: In-building storage is limited; an area for the selected Contractor’s storage/job trailer will be designated in the prework meeting. |
| 3. | Water and Electric Power: Available from Owner's existing system without metering and without payment of use charges. Provide connections and extensions of services as required for construction operations. |
| 4. | Toilets: Use of Owner's existing toilet facilities will be permitted, as long as facilities are cleaned and maintained in a condition acceptable to Owner. |
| 5. | The Contractor shall remove all construction debris and excess materials from the site and dispose of legally. |
| 6. | The Contractor shall provide a safe work environment and follow all OSHA and MIOSHA safety guidelines and regulations. |
| 1.3 | STANDARDS AND CODES |
| A. | All work shall comply with latest edition of applicable standards and codes including the International Mechanical and Plumbing Codes. |
