About this file

This is a Construction Scope of Work for the replacement of exterior wood siding with fiber cement siding on seven buildings at the New Hampshire Job Corps Center, a leased facility operated by Adams and Associates in Manchester, New Hampshire. The project is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor and prepared by Engineering Support Contractor (ESC) for Project 4310.

The scope encompasses the removal of approximately 58,000 square feet of existing cedar siding across Buildings A through G and installation of new fiber cement plank siding systems with necessary underlayment and surface preparation. Contractor responsibilities include demolition and debris disposal, inspection and repair of damaged substrates, installation of sheathing (including 100 SF per building allowance), removal and reinstallation of 36 security cameras and 343 exterior fixtures/devices, and all related cutting, patching, and finishing work. The fiber cement siding must comply with ASTM standards (C1185, C177, G23, E84, E136, E119) and NFPA Class A fire ratings with minimum 5/16" thickness from approved manufacturers including James Hardie or Nichiha. Building wrap installation must meet ASTM E 1677 Type I air retarder specifications. Work is phased sequentially by building over 435 calendar days total, with Phase 1 (Building G) requiring 45 days and Phases 2-7 (Buildings A-F) each requiring 60 days plus 30 days for final completion. The contractor must coordinate with center operations to minimize disruptions, maintain site safety with weather protection, provide weekly progress meetings, use the Submittal Exchange online project management system, and comply with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable building codes and manufacturer specifications. Significant electrical work is required for Building G, including relocation of the automatic transfer switch serving the backup generator to temporary Unistrut post, removal and reinstallation of the 200A service disconnect and meter, and restoration of all electrical systems following NEC requirements.
