About this file

This Scope of Work document outlines artwork maintenance and conservation services required by the DFW Airport Board for artworks located throughout DFW Airport Terminals and other Airport Board-owned facilities. The contract is a five-year period with potential for adjustment of work frequency during the term at no additional cost to the Airport. The services encompass annual maintenance and conservation for multiple classifications of artwork including paintings and two-dimensional works, sculptures and three-dimensional works, floor-integrated medallions, mosaics, and terrazzo flooring. The contractor must perform an initial comprehensive inspection of all paintings and two-dimensional artwork within 15 business days of contract commencement and deliver documented reports with photographs. Most conservation work must be performed during evenings, nights, or weekends when passenger flow is minimal, with work between 6 A.M. and 11 P.M. requiring specific approval from the DFW Airport Board Art Program Administrator. The scope includes 30 distinct artworks across multiple terminals, training for custodial and quality assurance staff, and monthly maintenance assessments for the interactive Circling Sculpture as alternate work.

Pricing is submitted as fixed and firm for the contract term under a Price Schedule (Exhibit 3), with all labor, materials, equipment, and supplies included unless otherwise specified. Contractors must provide five references demonstrating proven experience in airport settings and similar scope complexity, along with subcontractor references. The lead conservator must possess a minimum of five years of conservation experience with at least three years specific experience with the artwork types listed, with American Institute for Conservators (AIC) membership preferred. Charge Reimbursable Work—including repairs from vandalism, special projects, and unscheduled work—requires prior written approval from the DFW Airport Board Art Program Administrator, with work above $3,000 requiring competitive bids from at least three qualified providers. Markup limitations apply: 15 percent maximum if the contractor performs all work, 5 percent contractor markup on subcontractor costs, and 10 percent subcontractor markup, with combined markups not exceeding 15 percent. No specific set-asides for minority, women-owned, or small businesses are indicated as selected in this document, though MWBE participation is required for Charge Reimbursable Work where applicable.
