About this file
This document is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) guide for Group 01800, a statewide road salt contract administered by the New York State Office of General Services (NYS OGS). The contract covers road salt procurement for various entities across New York State counties, with awarded contractors providing services based on geographic assignments and salt type specifications.
The contract encompasses three types of salt products: regular Road Salt, Treated Salt Type 1, and Treated Salt Type 2, with pricing determined per ton and varying by county and contractor assignment. The contract term runs annually from September 1 to August 31. Entities must fulfill minimum purchase obligations with their assigned contractor by the contract end date, with contractors charging storage fees for unmet minimums. While entities can purchase salt from non-assigned contractors, they remain obligated to meet minimum requirements with their designated contractor. The contract includes provisions for delivery rejection of contaminated or wet salt loads, and additions to the contract after execution require approval from the awarded contractor and NYS OGS Contract Manager. Contract information, including contractor assignments, pricing, and delivery schedules, is provided through separate Excel workbook attachments organized by salt type and county.
