National Cold-Water Marine Aquaculture Center (NCWMAC) Franklin, ME 2/17/2022
STATEMENT OF WORK
February 17, 2022
PROJECT TITLE: NCWMAC Structural Steel Beam Rust Remediation

PROJECT SUMMARY
The National Cold-Water Marine Aquaculture Center (NCWMAC) main research building was constructed in 2007 and is approximately 40,000 sf. Several high bay water treatment dormers have corrosion on the structural steel members of the dormers which has effectively reduced the structural capacity of the affected members. Corrosion appears to be caused by both interior high humidity and the lack of crickets and poor flashing details at the high dormer vertical wall/roof intersections.
Scope of Work includes:
The replacement and/or repair of selective structural steel framing members to be followed the installation of a protective coating system.
Removal and reinstallation of existing metal roofing, metal dormer sidewall panels and spray on insulation as required to facilitate the structural steel repair and replacement activities.
Modifications to the existing metal roof and dormer sidewalls to correct flashing deficiencies and install crickets designed to convey rain and snow melt water away from the wall/roof intersections and prevent ponding.
