Confidential – All Rights Reserved 3Organizational Development Retreat VI Report |

The Objectives for OD week VI were to:

• Support leadership transitions

• Create a common view of the change required to support integrated projects

• Progress the integrated projects and build project team effectiveness

• Progress the change management approach within PRO and the Mission inclusive of building change management capability

• Support performance management capability particularly regarding building work objectives and matrix performance management

• Celebrate success and build teamwork

The week was designed around three components:

• Day 1 as an All Hands day

• Days 2-4 consisted of Mission (Djibouti), Office (7 x support offices) and Project (11 x integrated projects) sessions

• Days 4-5 comprised leadership and transversal sessions - MMT decisions based on issues emerging during week and integration of all output into a Mission Change Plan

The High Level Recommendations are:

• Prioritize - all PDPs do not have to be completed at the same time. Consider staggering in phases or

‘waves’

• Actively share the learnings from the success of DO1 and DO2

• Provide support where it is most needed based on priorities i.e. PRO and Front Office do not need to provide uniform support

• Make and communicate critical decisions so there is progress. Everyone does now need to operate in the integrated project paradigm and at some point lack of knowledge / alignment should be considered an issue of accountability, rather than due to insufficient decision making and communications

• Keep it simple with good, robust project management, accountability and learning processes

• Implement performance management, with great role modelling on work objectives and feedback

• Continue to use the Leadership Behaviors Charter and Insights as tools to build effective integrated teams

• LBC and Insights.

The Executive Summary has five sections:

1. All Hands – Objectives and Themes

2. Projects – Status and Strategic Reflections (note: Details for each session are in the appendices)

3. Other Sessions – Status and Strategic Reflections

4. MMT – Action Points

5. Change Plan – the Change Plan for the Mission for the next 12 months (to be iteratively updated)
