UNSPSC 78101609: Railway transport by tanker car

UNSPSC 78101609 Railway transport by tanker car (Commodity) shows minimal recent activity aligned with its nominal scope in state and local procurement. The two most recent opportunities posted under this code — a Broward County transit bus stop ADA improvements contract and a Broward County RFI for Bubenzer brakes and rail clamps at Port Everglades — are unrelated to tanker-car rail transport. The bus stop work involves sidewalk, landing pad, and transit amenity construction; the port equipment RFI concerns crane brake systems and rail clamps for container gantries. Neither solicitation involves the carriage of liquids or bulk materials by rail tank car, which is the work the code nominally describes.

The geographic and issuing-body signal is limited to Broward County, Florida, in recent months, and the opportunities present do not support a decision to pursue under this code. If state and local procurement activity in tanker-car rail transport exists, it is not surfacing in recent postings under this UNSPSC designation. The mismatch between code and scope suggests either tagging error in the source data or a code that sees no meaningful recent state or local procurement volume.
