UNSPSC 78101608: Railway transport services of letters and parcels

UNSPSC 78101608 Railway transport services of letters and parcels is a Commodity code showing minimal recent activity aligned with its nominal scope. The two most recent state and local opportunities posted under this code bear no meaningful connection to railway transport, mail, or parcel services. The first, from Broward County Transportation Department, solicits ADA-compliant bus stop construction and amenities; the second, also from Broward County, seeks information on container gantry crane brake systems and rail clamps at Port Everglades. Neither involves railway-based letter or parcel transport. The code's abstract name does not match the work being actively solicited under it in the state and local market.

Broward County is the only issuing body represented in recent postings under this code, and both opportunities are tied to maritime or transit infrastructure rather than dedicated freight or mail rail services. The geographic spread is limited to South Florida. Given the mismatch between the code's stated purpose and the actual work being tagged under it, firms pursuing state and local railway transport contracts should verify the accuracy of code assignments in future solicitations before investing business development effort. The code itself does not reflect current demand for genuine railway transport services in the state and local space.
