UNSPSC 78101603: Livestock rail transport

UNSPSC 78101603 Livestock rail transport, a Commodity code, shows a significant mismatch between its nominal scope and actual state and local procurement activity under the code. Recent opportunities posted under this code do not involve livestock movement or animal transport services; instead, Broward County Transportation Department and Broward County Port Authority have tagged unrelated transit infrastructure and port equipment maintenance solicitations under the code, suggesting a data-entry or system-classification error rather than genuine procurement demand for livestock rail services. The code displays little relevant activity aligned with its stated definition.

No state and local opportunities currently posted under UNSPSC 78101603 solicit livestock rail transport services, containerized animal shipping, livestock handling infrastructure, or related commodities. The two recent Broward County postings—one for ADA-compliant bus stop construction (IFB TRN2132943B1, response due November 2, 2026) and one for container gantry crane brake systems at Port Everglades (RFI BLD6232026F12, closed July 1, 2026)—are administratively tagged to this code but operationally unrelated to livestock transport. Business development professionals should verify code alignment with procurement offices before pursuing opportunities posted under this taxonomy number; the code as currently applied does not reflect genuine demand for livestock rail services in the state and local market.
