UNSPSC 73181301: Quench or temper services

UNSPSC 73181301 Quench or temper services, a Commodity code, shows minimal recent state and local procurement activity aligned with its nominal scope. The single recent opportunity posted under this code — the City of DeBary, Florida's Rob Sullivan Park Irrigation Improvements project — involves irrigation system installation and conversion from a baseline to a Hunter controller system, work that falls outside the thermal processing or metallurgical treatment services the code name implies. The mismatch suggests either a classification error in the source record or that state and local purchasing offices occasionally tag infrastructure work with codes that do not reflect the actual scope of labor and materials being solicited.

The City of DeBary's IFB (Bid 03-15), posted October 19, 2026, with a response deadline of April 10, 2015, calls for comprehensive irrigation infrastructure improvements including controller installation, master valve replacement, flow metering, and piping work, with an engineer's estimate of $90,000 and a 45-calendar-day completion window. No other recent opportunities under this code are reported in the source. Given the single, geographically isolated record and the semantic disconnect between the code's definition and the work actually being solicited, this code does not represent an active state and local procurement category worthy of pursuit at this time.
