UNSPSC 73181121: Zinc alloy rack plating service

UNSPSC 73181121 Zinc alloy rack plating service (Commodity) shows minimal alignment with the state and local opportunities tagged under it. The recent solicitations—park irrigation system installation, stormwater treatment equipment demolition, and HVAC system replacements—involve civil construction, equipment removal, and mechanical installation work with no relevance to zinc alloy electroplating or metal finishing services. The code appears to receive limited or mislabeled activity in the state and local procurement stream, with no concrete evidence of government agencies actually soliciting zinc alloy plating work.

The four opportunities posted between February and April 2026 originate from Florida municipal governments (City of DeBary and City of Ocala) and the Georgia Department of Driver Services, but none involve the plating, coating, or metal-finishing services the code nominally describes. The City of DeBary issued an IFB for Rob Sullivan Park irrigation improvements (posted April 13, 2026, due April 10, 2015—note the date inconsistency in the source) with an estimated cost of $90,000; the City of Ocala solicited an ITB for demolition of a stormwater treatment system (due April 2, 2026); and the Georgia Department of Driver Services issued two eRFQs for HVAC replacements at Brunswick and Douglas customer service centers (due March 3, 2026). The code does not show active, relevant recent procurement activity—vendors pursuing zinc alloy plating contracts should track opportunities under metals and surface treatment codes rather than rely on this classification.
