UNSPSC 73181109: Nickel plating service

Application of nickel based coatings to parts using various coating processes

UNSPSC 73181109 Nickel plating service is a Commodity code that shows a significant mismatch between its nominal scope and the recent state and local opportunities tagged under it. The four most recent solicitations posted between February and April 2026—irrigation system installation at Rob Sullivan Park in DeBary, Florida; demolition and removal of a stormwater treatment system in Ocala, Florida; and HVAC system replacements at two Georgia Department of Driver Services facilities—bear no relationship to metal surface finishing or nickel plating work. State and local procurement offices have apparently applied this code incorrectly to construction, demolition, and mechanical systems projects. The code shows little relevant recent activity when filtered to its actual scope.

No state or local opportunities currently soliciting nickel plating services or metal surface finishing work appear in the recent data. Procurement professionals evaluating this code for business development should treat it as dormant or misclassified in current practice and verify directly with target jurisdictions whether they solicit plating or coating services under a different UNSPSC code or through alternate procurement channels.
