UNSPSC 70121601: Livestock breeding

UNSPSC 70121601 Livestock breeding is a Commodity code that shows no recent state and local procurement activity aligned with its nominal scope. The three most recent opportunities tagged under this code—a career technical education and advanced academics RFP from an independent school district in Texas, an aerial thermal survey for white-tailed deer from a forest preserve district in Illinois, and an executive search services RFP from a city in Georgia—do not involve livestock breeding, animal husbandry, breeding stock acquisition, or related agricultural services. The mismatch between the code's intended scope and the work actually being solicited under it suggests either mis-tagging in the source systems or a significant gap between the UNSPSC taxonomy and how state and local procurement offices are currently classifying these procurements.

No representative opportunities in the livestock breeding space are present in the available recent solicitation records. State and local buyers do occasionally procure breeding animals, veterinary genetics services, breeding facility improvements, and related livestock production support, but none of those activities appear in the recent posting activity for this code. Firms targeting state and local livestock-sector work should monitor the code but expect limited current activity and verify code assignment before pursuing any opportunities posted under 70121601.
