UNSPSC 50466856: Canned or jarred taro

The type of vegetable known as taro that has been canned or jarred for preservation.

UNSPSC 50466856 Canned or jarred taro, a Commodity code, sees minimal recent state and local procurement activity. The single opportunity explicitly tagged to this code—the State of Illinois weekly food order for the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy—did not actually solicit taro; instead, it requested quotes for bacon, cheese, milk, pizza crusts, donuts, and other staples. The recent opportunities block contains no other solicitations targeting canned or jarred taro specifically. State and local governments buying under this code, when activity occurs, appear to source from institutional food service contexts including state veterans homes, correctional facilities, and school nutrition programs, though the present dataset shows no recent demand pattern for this particular commodity.

The code shows no geographic concentration, issuing-body clustering, or representative recent bid activity that would support pursue decisions. Food service procurement in state and local government remains robust across school districts, corrections departments, and health agencies, but those buyers are pursuing canned tomatoes, fresh produce, dairy, proteins, and prepared foods—not taro. If taro demand exists in state and local markets, it is not visible in current RFP, RFQ, IFB, or ITB notices.
