UNSPSC 50445803: Frozen dulse

The variety of sea vegetables known as dulse that has been frozen for preservation.

UNSPSC 50445803 Frozen dulse (Commodity) does not appear in recent state and local procurement activity. The code nominally describes frozen seaweed, but the recent opportunities block contains no solicitations for frozen dulse or related kelp products. Instead, the opportunities tagged under this code span unrelated commodity families: frozen corn, frozen potatoes, fresh produce, grocery staples, cafeteria food products, and supplemental food and consumables for schools, correctional facilities, and state-supported living centers across Oregon, Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Connecticut, Missouri, and other states. None of these solicitations reference dulse, seaweed, or marine macroalgae products in any form.

The mismatch between the code's scope and the actual recent opportunities suggests either a data classification error or minimal procurement activity for frozen dulse in the state and local market during the period captured. Firms targeting state and local food service opportunities should not expect to compete for frozen dulse work under this code based on current market signals. Vendors with frozen vegetable, commodity protein, or general food distribution capabilities may find more relevant opportunities across the Family and Class codes spanning general frozen produce and grocery products.
