UNSPSC 49101607: Comic book collections

UNSPSC 49101607 Comic book collections is a Commodity code that encompasses the procurement of comic books and graphic novels for library systems. In practice, state and local governments buy this material as part of broader library collection acquisitions, often bundled with general library materials, audiovisual items, and related processing services rather than as a standalone product line. Public library systems are the primary issuing bodies under this code, acquiring comic books to support recreational reading, literacy programs, and collection diversity across age groups and communities.

The City of Brownsville, Texas released an RFP (solicitation 33526LIBRFP, due September 15, 2026) for library collection materials and services to the Brownsville Public Library System, with scope including library books, audiovisual materials, digital resources, cataloging, processing, and customer support services—a representative example of how comic book procurement integrates into larger library materials contracts. Recent activity centers on Texas, though the single substantive opportunity in the source provides limited geographic spread for broader characterization. The code shows minimal recent standalone activity, suggesting that comic book procurement typically flows through general library materials solicitations rather than through dedicated, commodity-specific RFPs.
