UNSPSC 31121009: Beryllium v process machined castings

UNSPSC 31121009 Beryllium v process machined castings is a Commodity code covering precision-cast and machined beryllium components for specialized industrial and defense applications. State and local governments procure these parts primarily through state departments of transportation, procurement authorities, and special-purpose districts engaged in infrastructure, materials research, or defense-related work. The code captures finished or near-finished beryllium casting products that have undergone machining operations to specification, typically for applications requiring the material's high strength-to-weight ratio, thermal conductivity, or nuclear properties. Issuing bodies are predominantly state-level procurement offices and specialized research or manufacturing support agencies rather than counties, municipalities, or school districts, reflecting the narrow technical and regulatory scope of beryllium handling and the limited downstream demand in routine state and local operations.

The source contains no recent state and local contract opportunities under UNSPSC 31121009. The code shows minimal to no recent solicitation activity in the state and local market, suggesting that beryllium casting and machining work is either handled through federal channels, long-term standing agreements, or is simply not a material procurement category for the jurisdictions tracked in recent opportunity records.
