UNSPSC 27112018: Bulb planter

A hand-held garden tool consisting of a cylindrical drum and handle, designed to be driven into the earth to the depth required for planting, then removed holding the displaced earth within the drum.

UNSPSC 27112018 Bulb planter (Commodity) represents a narrow product category for small-scale horticultural hand tools that state and local governments purchase for grounds maintenance and landscaping operations. The code covers manual bulb-planting equipment — devices that cut, auger, or dibble soil to create holes for flower and plant bulbs at consistent depths and spacing. Issuing bodies under this code include city parks and recreation departments, county grounds maintenance operations, and school district facilities management. Procurement is typically low-dollar and infrequent, often bundled with broader landscaping supply solicitations or issued as informal RFQs.

Recent state and local opportunities tagged to this code show limited procurement activity. The City of Dallas posted an IFB on April 20, 2026 (due April 24, 2026) for planting equipment and row crop supplies to Fair Park Administration, though the scope appears to extend beyond hand bulb planters to broader equipment categories. No other recent opportunities in the source reflect direct demand for bulb planters as standalone items. The code shows minimal velocity in state and local procurement; activity, when present, concentrates in Texas and remains embedded in larger grounds-maintenance or agricultural-operations buys rather than as discrete line items.
