UNSPSC 27111916: Roof ripper

UNSPSC 27111916 Roof ripper, a Commodity code, does not reflect the actual work being solicited under this code in recent state and local procurement. Recent opportunities tagged to this code span janitorial supplies, hand tools, HVAC and plumbing parts, maintenance hardware, woodshop supplies, outdoor electrical equipment, and roofing installation—none of which align with the specific function of a roof ripper (a specialized tool for removing roofing material). The mismatch suggests either systematic misclassification of opportunities in the procurement systems or that the code designation is not reliably applied by issuing bodies. One genuine roofing solicitation appears in the block—the Harrisburg Housing Authority's IFB 2026-11 for roof replacement at the Randolph Street Administrative Building (due October 17, 2026), which includes removal of an existing EPDM roof and installation of a new TPO system, inspection, plywood replacement, and warranties—but this work is classified as a roofing installation project rather than a tool or equipment procurement. The solicitation does not specify the purchase of a roof ripper or similar removal equipment as a discrete line item.

Issuing bodies across the recent block include state agencies (Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Texas Department of Transportation via the Comptroller's office, Texas Department of State Health Services), counties (Hillsborough County, Florida), cities (Augusta, Georgia; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Lubbock, Texas), and public housing authorities. Geographic activity concentrates in Texas and Florida, with secondary presence in Pennsylvania and Georgia. Because the code shows limited relevance to recent opportunities, pursuit under this code is not supported by current market activity.
