UNSPSC 15101602: Lignite

UNSPSC 15101602 Lignite is a Commodity code that nominally covers coal-based fuel products, but recent state and local solicitations posted under this code do not reflect lignite procurement. Instead, the code shows activity in petroleum fuel supply — gasoline and diesel delivered to distributed fueling infrastructure — and in law enforcement equipment, neither of which aligns with the code's stated scope. The mismatch suggests either miscoding in the issuing systems or that this code sees minimal relevant recent activity in state and local procurement.

The only clearly on-topic recent opportunity is Cobb County School District (CCSD) in Georgia, which posted solicitation PE63310NONST2027000000224 on September 1, 2026 (due September 30, 2026) to procure gasoline and diesel fuel for delivery to multiple CCSD fuel pump sites. A second posting, Sourcewell solicitation 061626 from May 2026, targets law enforcement equipment across a multi-state cooperative purchasing group spanning Washington state and numerous other jurisdictions — this opportunity is unrelated to lignite. The code shows no recent state or local demand for actual lignite supply and no clear geographic concentration. State and local procurement activity under UNSPSC 15101602 does not align with the commodity it nominally describes, making this code a low-priority pursuit category.
