UNSPSC 12162004: Sulfonamides

UNSPSC 12162004 Sulfonamides is a Commodity code that appears in state and local procurement data with minimal recent activity aligned to its nominal scope. The single recent opportunity tagged to this code—Santa Clara County's April 2026 RFI for a Public Health Lab Information Management Solution Replacement—concerns laboratory information systems and workflows, not sulfonamide pharmaceutical products or supplies. The mismatch suggests either a tagging error in the source system or that Santa Clara County's procurement office applied this pharmaceutical code to an IT infrastructure solicitation. State and local health departments and public health laboratories are typical buyers under pharmaceutical UNSPSC codes, but the current record does not support a claim that sulfonamide procurement is active under this specific code.

No recent opportunities in the source block show actual sulfonamide product procurement by state or local governments. Geographic concentration and issuing-body patterns cannot be characterized from a single misaligned record. Firms evaluating this code should verify whether sulfonamide sourcing appears in their target jurisdictions' actual procurement notice streams, as the present source suggests either limited current activity or systematic miscoding in state and local UNSPSC tagging.
