NIGP 94580: Taxidermy Services

NIGP 94580 Taxidermy Services, an Item code, encompasses the preservation, mounting, and display preparation of animal specimens for museums, educational institutions, and private collectors seeking lifelike presentation of wildlife. State and local governments procure taxidermy work primarily through natural history museums, zoological parks, and educational departments that maintain collections for public exhibition and research. The work typically involves full-mount preparation of large and small game animals, birds, reptiles, and aquatic specimens, as well as specialized techniques such as habitat dioramas and anatomically accurate restoration. Issuing bodies soliciting under this code include state museum authorities, county parks and recreation departments, city-operated zoological facilities, and independent school districts with natural science programs. Some specialized procurement also originates from state wildlife agencies and natural-resource departments that curate specimens for educational outreach.
