NIGP 85568: Scenery and Props

NIGP 85568 Scenery and Props, an Item code, covers the procurement of theatrical, film, display, and event scenery along with related stage properties and set dressing materials that state and local governments purchase for performing arts venues, public events, cultural institutions, and educational programs. State and local buyers under this code source finished scenic elements, backdrop materials, prop rentals, set construction services, and decorative furnishings for theatrical productions, film and video projects, museum exhibits, public celebrations, and school and university performances. The issuing bodies typically include state arts agencies, city cultural departments, county recreation and parks authorities, municipal theaters and performing arts centers, public universities with drama and film programs, school districts with performing arts curricula, and special-purpose cultural districts.

No recent state and local contract opportunities under NIGP 85568 appear in current procurement databases. The code sees minimal solicitation activity relative to higher-volume theatrical and event-support categories, suggesting that state and local governments either procure scenery and props through broader facility-services or entertainment contracts, negotiate directly with regional theater suppliers and rental houses, or route such purchases through cooperative purchasing agreements with arts consortia rather than open competitive solicitation.
