NIGP 19560: Stopwatches (Including Liquid Crystal Display)

NIGP 19560, Stopwatches (Including Liquid Crystal Display), is an Item code under which state and local governments procure timing instruments. However, the recent solicitation activity mapped to this code reflects a significant classification mismatch: Pasco County, Florida posted an RFQ on June 3, 2026 (RFQFP261004) for large copper sulfate crystals and liquid copper sulfate on an as-needed basis, a chemical supply requirement wholly outside the scope of stopwatches and timing devices. This divergence signals either a data-quality issue in how opportunities are being tagged to NIGP codes or a systemic problem in how the county is classifying its chemical-procurement activity. The actual demand under the legitimate scope of NIGP 19560—mechanical and electronic timing instruments for athletic events, industrial processes, laboratory work, and field operations—cannot be assessed from the available recent-opportunity record.

The single recent posting under this code offers no reliable basis for evaluating geographic concentration, issuing-body patterns, or representative procurement activity. Prospective vendors should verify the correct NIGP classification for stopwatch and timing-device contracts through direct engagement with state and local procurement offices or by cross-referencing recent RFPs and RFQs in their target jurisdictions. The presence of a misclassified chemical supply solicitation under this code suggests care is needed when relying on NIGP-tagged opportunity feeds for market intelligence in this category.
