The Department of the Interior US Geological Survey awarded a single-award Indefinite Delivery Contract to General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc., a prime contractor and manufacturer of goods, to provide mission operations and sustainment services for the Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 satellites, as well as the Landsat Multi-Satellite Operations Center (LMOC) and its backup facility. The potential value of the contract is $155 million over a 10-year period from June 2017 to June 2027.
Through a series of delivery orders, General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc. will deliver a range of software development, engineering, and operations and sustainment services in support of the USGS's land imaging programs. Key efforts include transitioning Landsat 8 operations to the new LMOC, providing sustained operations for both Landsat 8 and 9 satellites, and performing mission systems engineering to support future Landsat capabilities. The work will be primarily performed in Greenbelt, Maryland, with no small business set-asides specified. The delivery orders utilize cost-plus-award-fee and firm fixed price contract types to compensate General Dynamics for this critical support of the USGS's remote sensing and land observation missions.
