This federal Project Grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program (CFDA 14.267), provides $862,655 to the West Central Texas Regional Foundation to support efforts to quickly house homeless individuals and families in the Abilene, TX area while minimizing trauma and promoting self-sufficiency.
The grant funds may be used for a range of eligible activities across five program components: permanent housing (including permanent supportive housing and rapid rehousing), transitional housing, supportive services only, homeless management information systems (HMIS), and homelessness prevention. Specific services that can be provided include outreach, case management, housing relocation and stabilization, rental assistance, and other supportive services to help participants obtain and maintain housing. The grant aims to decrease homelessness by reducing the length of time individuals and families experience homelessness, minimizing returns to homelessness, and increasing exits to permanent housing.
