Prisma Health - Upstate received a Project Grant award of $674,262.40 from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration Under Secretary for Health under the VA Grants for Adaptive Sports Programs for Disabled Veterans and Disabled Members of the Armed Forces program (CFDA 64.034). The award, dated September 30, 2025, with a completion date of September 30, 2026, funds adaptive recreation programs designed to support the physical and mental health of military service members and veterans with disabilities in South Carolina.
Under this one-year grant, Prisma Health - Upstate will plan, develop, manage, and implement adaptive sports activities and related services for eligible veterans and disabled service members. Program deliverables include instruction, participation, and competition in adaptive sports; training and technical assistance for coaches and program administrators; athlete assessment and Paralympic classification; sport-specific training; equipment and supplies provision; and program evaluation activities. This award represents the third consecutive year of funding for Prisma Health - Upstate's adaptive sports initiatives, building on the organization's demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale adaptive sports programs serving disabled veterans across Upstate South Carolina.
