About this award

The National Endowment for the Humanities awarded Humanities Texas $1,325,503 on June 1, 2026, under the Promotion of the Humanities Federal/State Partnership program (CFDA 45.129) to fund statewide humanities subawards and public programming in Texas through April 30, 2031.

Humanities Texas distributes funding through subawards to local cultural institutions, educational entities, and community organizations across Texas and operates direct public humanities programming. The organization tailors its subaward-making and public programs to the needs and interests of Texas communities in support of its mission to advance education through programs that improve classroom teaching quality, support libraries and museums, and create lifelong learning opportunities. In fiscal year 2026, Humanities Texas places special emphasis in both subawards and public programming on celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The Federal/State Partnership program provides general operating support grants to the 56 state and jurisdictional humanities councils nationwide to bring humanities education, lifelong learning, and public humanities programming to communities. The program requires that funds be expended during the first three years of the five-year period of performance. Place of performance is Texas, USA.
