The National Endowment for the Humanities awarded the New York Council For The Humanities $1,274,366 on June 1, 2026, under the Promotion of the Humanities Federal/State Partnership program (CFDA 45.129). The award provides general operating support for Humanities New York to deliver public humanities programming across New York State, including civic discussions, living history presentations, reading and discussion series, and community-centered events. The organization also distributes subawards to New York-based cultural organizations and institutions. Performance runs through April 30, 2031, with place of performance in New York. The Federal/State Partnership program delivers humanities education and lifelong learning to communities nationwide through general operating support grants to state and jurisdictional humanities councils, with the councils tailoring programming to local needs and interests. Humanities New York must expend funds during the first three years of the five-year performance period.

The council tailors our public programs to the needs, resources, and interests of new york state. In doing so, IT delivers on its mission to empower new yorkers and the statewide cultural sector using dialogue, reflection, and critical thinking.]
