The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration awarded $750,000 to the Salvation Army through the VA Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program (CFDA 64.024) on August 20, 2021. The funding will support the Salvation Army's efforts to reduce congregate living and create individual living units for homeless Veterans in Tennessee. Specifically, the capital funding will go towards converting existing housing from congregate facilities into individual living units, in line with the VA Homeless Providers GPD Program's goal of transitioning Veterans experiencing homelessness to independent living. The GPD Program is VA's largest initiative providing transitional housing assistance to homeless Veterans.
