Description
The lasting impact of martin luther's anti-judaism on biblical studies [the aim of the project is to establish an international scholarly working group to outline the first comprehensive study of the lasting influence of martin luther?s anti-judaism on the methods, institutions, and intellectual frameworks of academic biblical interpretation. Our purview extends from christian hebraism (15TH century) to modern scholarship. The aim of the project is to identify and evaluate how anti-jewish presuppositions central to luther?s thought were embedded in the practices of biblical philology and the ensuing historical-critical method of the german tradition of scholarship, and how this legacy continues to shape scholarship in europe, north america, and israel.]
