The grant will fund the construction of a 33-acre-foot reservoir and a 24-acre recharge facility in Bakersfield, CA. These infrastructure improvements are expected to increase the district's groundwater supply by 3,466 acre-feet per year, representing a 6.1% increase in the total annual average water supply. The...
- The San Benito County Water District (SBCWD) is implementing the Accelerated Drought Response Project (ADROP), which is the first phase of the North San Benito Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project. ADROP is funded by a $51,195,000 Project Grant from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) under the Small Surface Water and Groundwater Storage Projects program (CFDA 15.074). The project will provide for the injection and storage of up to 2,700 acre-feet per year of treated Central Valley...
- The City of Stockton, California will design a groundwater recharge improvement project adjacent to the Delta Water Treatment Plant, funded by a $1,397,655 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Reclamation under the WaterSMART (Sustain and Manage America's Resources for Tomorrow) program (CFDA 15.507). The project will involve constructing three recharge ponds, connections and conveyance systems, and monitoring systems including wells and surface water gages. This...
- The Rancho California Water District was awarded a $43,900,000 Project Grant from the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Reclamation under the Small Surface Water and Groundwater Storage Projects program (CFDA 15.074). The grant will fund the Pauba Valley Groundwater Banking Project, which aims to leverage the district's 100,000 acre-feet of unused groundwater storage capacity to enhance long-term water supply reliability for the Lower Colorado River Basin. The key components of the...

- The U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $387,000 Project Grant under the WaterSMART (Sustain and Manage America's Resources for Tomorrow) program (CFDA 15.507) to the Stockton East Water District in San Joaquin County, California. The grant will fund the design of a pipeline to improve drought resiliency and groundwater reliability by providing an alternative surface water source to agricultural users currently relying on groundwater pumping. This project is...
- The Turlock Irrigation District will receive $7.93 million under a Project Grant award from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation's Reclamation States Emergency Drought Relief program (CFDA 15.514) to construct a 38-acre regulating reservoir. The reservoir will capture operational spills from water delivery canals during periods of excess supply and return the stored flows to canals during times of water shortages. This project aims to improve water management of 10,000...
THE ORESTIMBA CREEK RECHARGE AND RECOVERY EXPANSION PROJECT IS A JOINT PROJECT BETWEEN DEL PUERTO WATER DISTRICT AND CENTRAL CALIFORNIA IRRIGATION DISTRICT. THE PROJECT IS A SMALL GROUNDWATER STORAGE PROJECT IN WHICH WATER WILL BE STORED IN A LOCAL AQUIFER IN WET YEARS AND THEN USED IN DRY YEARS TO PROVIDE AGRICULTURAL WATER SUPPLY. RECHARGE WATER WILL INCLUDE AVAILABLE UNSTORABLE CVP SUPPLIES AND FLOOD WATER FLOWS FROM ORESTIMBA CREEK, THE LATTER RESULTING IN A REDUCTION OF FLOOD RISK IN ADDITION TO INCREASED WATER SUPPLY RELIABILITY. THE PROJECT SEEKS TO CONSTRUCT A NEW TURNOUT IN ORESTIMBA CREEK TO DIVERT WATER FROM THE CREEK THROUGH AN EXISTING CULVERT UNDER BELL ROAD AND THE DMC, AND LIFT THIS WATER VIA A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED PUMP STATION INTO A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED PIPELINE PARALLEL TO THE DMC WHERE IT JOINS WITH AN EXISTING DPWD DIVERSION FROM THE DMC. FROM THERE, EITHER ORESTIMBA CREEK FLOOD FLOWS OR UNSTORABLE DISTRICT CVP SUPPLIES WILL BE CONVEYED VIA A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED PIPELINE TO THE EXPANDED RECHARGE PONDS WHERE THE WATER WOULD PERCOLATE INTO THE LOCAL AQUIFER. EXTRACTIONS WOULD OCCUR AT VARIOUS GROUNDWATER WELLS IN THE LOCAL AQUIFER AND CONVEYED TO CCIDS MAIN CANAL.THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO GENERATE 1,485 AF YEAR ON AVERAGE FOR THE PROJECT PARTNERS. ADDITIONALLY, UP TO 35 CFS OF FLOOD FLOWS WILL BE DIVERTED FROM ORESTIMBA CREEK REDUCING DOWNSTREAM PRESSURE ON THE CITY OF NEWMAN, CCIDS MAIN CANAL, AND THE SAN JOAQUIN RIVER.
