About this award
The Goleta Water District, a U.S. local government entity serving the Goleta Valley region in California, received a $6,291,307 Project Grant award from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation's Reclamation States Emergency Drought Relief program (CFDA 15.514). The grant funding will enable the District to design and construct advanced groundwater treatment systems at its Airport Well to remove contaminants such as 1,4-dioxane and PFAS. This will restore the well's capacity to produce approximately 1,100 acre-feet per year of drinking water for the District's service area, including multiple disadvantaged communities. The project aligns with the District's drought preparedness and water shortage contingency plan, and is intended to ensure the well water meets all state and federal drinking water standards.
Description
The goleta water DISTRICT (DISTRICT), located in santa barbara county in southern california, will design and construct advanced groundwater treatment systems at its airport well to treat and remove 1,4-dioxane and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The project will restore the well S capacity to produce approximately 1,100 acre-feet per year of drinking water for the districts service area which includes multiple disadvantaged communities.
