The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $164,376 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program grant (CFDA 14.267) to the Municipality of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, to be used from March 11, 2025 onwards. The CoC Program is designed to promote community-wide strategies to address homelessness by funding efforts from nonprofit providers, state and local governments to quickly house homeless individuals and families while minimizing trauma and promoting self-sufficiency.
The grant funds can be used for a variety of eligible activities, including permanent housing, transitional housing, supportive services, homeless management information systems (HMIS), and homelessness prevention. The specific activities to be performed by the sub-recipients under this award are not known at this time. The expected outcomes of the grant include decreasing the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness by reducing the length of homelessness, returns to homelessness, and increasing exits to permanent housing.
