About this award

The National Park Service awarded $175,586 to Arizona State Parks & Trails on October 1, 2025, through the Outdoor Recreation Acquisition, Development and Planning program (CFDA 15.916) under the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) State and Local Assistance Program. Arizona State Parks & Trails will serve as the pass-through entity, providing a subaward to the Town of Parker for park development improvements at Pop Harvey Park. The project is scheduled for completion by December 31, 2026, and will deliver outdoor recreation facility enhancements and infrastructure improvements benefiting the general public in Arizona.

This grant represents the LWCF program's commitment to supporting state and local park development initiatives through matching grant funding. The project advances Arizona's outdoor recreation priorities as identified in the state's Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan. Notably, LWCF grants are funded through offshore oil and gas lease revenues rather than federal tax appropriations, supporting the Department of the Interior's broader initiative to expand public access to quality recreational amenities and outdoor spaces across communities nationwide.

Description

Based on its outdoor recreation priorities, the state has selected grant projects to receive LWCF funding. LWCF grants are made pursuant to 54 U.S.C. 2003 and are funded by offshore oil and gas lease revenue, not tax dollars. In this project, the arizona department of parks will make a subaward to the town of parker for developments at POP harvey park. This project will benefit the general public.
