About this award
The National Park Service awarded a $290,000 Project Grant under the Outdoor Recreation Acquisition, Development and Planning program (CFDA 15.916) to the State of South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism (SCPRT). The grant funds will be used by the Town of Edisto Beach to resurface an existing 4,352 linear foot bike path along Jungle Shores Drive and Dawhoo Street. The project will address drainage issues, add new compacted base materials, grade and compact the path, and repave the bike path to its original condition, including ADA-compliant pavement markings. SCPRT frequently serves as a pass-through entity for this federal grant program, subgranting funds to local municipalities, counties, and park commissions to implement projects that preserve natural spaces, enhance public access to recreation, and strengthen community recreational infrastructure across the state.
