The United Way of Central New York, Inc. was awarded a $120,415 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (CFDA 14.267) on March 11, 2025. This Project Grant is designed to promote community-wide efforts to quickly house homeless individuals and families in the Syracuse, NY area while minimizing trauma and promoting self-sufficiency.
The funding will support a range of eligible activities under the CoC Program, including permanent housing, transitional housing, supportive services, homeless management information systems (HMIS), and potentially homelessness prevention. While the specific sub-recipient activities are unknown at the time of award, the grant aims to decrease homelessness in the region by reducing the length of time individuals/families experience homelessness, preventing returns to homelessness, and increasing exits to permanent housing. The United Way of Central New York, Inc. may utilize sub-recipients to help deliver these critical housing and support services in the community.
