The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $461,268 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program grant (CFDA 14.267) to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany. The CoC Program is designed to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing trauma and promoting self-sufficiency.
Under this Project Grant award, Catholic Charities will use the funds to provide a range of eligible activities, including permanent housing, transitional housing, supportive services, Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS), and potentially homelessness prevention. The organization will work to decrease the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in its service area by reducing the length of time people are homeless, preventing returns to homelessness, and increasing exits to permanent housing. As a sub-grantee, Catholic Charities has also been involved in various state-led initiatives to address issues such as substance abuse, domestic violence, and community development.
