The Rochester Housing Authority received a $425,963 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development, under the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program (CFDA 14.267). The award, effective June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027, supports the organization's efforts to combat homelessness in the Rochester, New York area by funding eligible activities designed to quickly house homeless individuals and families while minimizing trauma and dislocation.
Under this CoC award, the Rochester Housing Authority may deploy funding across five program components: permanent supportive housing and rapid rehousing for persons with disabilities; transitional housing; supportive services only; Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) for data management; and homelessness prevention activities. Eligible uses of funds encompass up to thirteen cost categories, including CoC planning, property acquisition and rehabilitation, new construction, rental assistance, case management, and operating expenses. These investments directly support HUD's national mission to promote community-wide commitment to ending homelessness while optimizing self-sufficiency among vulnerable populations experiencing housing instability.
