This $270,000 project grant from the Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration will fund the Salamatof Native Association, Inc. to conduct a broadband planning study in partnership with the Salamatof Tribe. The study will analyze best uses for previously awarded tribal spectrum and partner with stakeholders to design a regional broadband infrastructure project. The planning study aims to expand broadband access and adoption on Tribal lands through the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (CFDA 11.029), which provides grants for remote learning, telework, and telehealth resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the one-year period from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023, the Salamatof Native Association will analyze options for a future broadband network and engage stakeholders in engineering solutions to connect the Salamatof Tribe.
