The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $326,104 Continuum of Care Program (CFDA# 14.267) grant to Valencia Shelter Services, a domestic shelter and non-profit organization in Los Lunas, New Mexico. This funding will enable Valencia Shelter Services to provide a range of housing assistance and support services to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families in the local community. The eligible activities under this grant include permanent housing, rapid re-housing, transitional housing, supportive services, and homeless management information systems (HMIS). Through this award, Valencia Shelter Services aims to decrease homelessness by reducing the length of time individuals and families experience homelessness, minimizing returns to homelessness, and increasing exits to permanent housing. The organization has a strong track record of securing Continuum of Care Program grants from HUD, totaling over $3.5 million since 2019, to support its mission of serving vulnerable populations in Valencia County and surrounding areas.
