The Department of Housing and Urban Development's Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development awarded Catholic Charities Diocese Of Metuchen $265,380 on May 1, 2026, under the Continuum of Care Program (CFDA 14.267). The award funds eligible costs to establish and operate projects under five program components: permanent housing including permanent supportive housing for persons with disabilities and rapid rehousing; transitional housing; supportive services only; Homeless Management Information Systems; and in some cases homelessness prevention. Eligible cost categories include Continuum of Care planning activities, acquisition and rehabilitation of real property, rental assistance, case management, and operating costs for housing and supportive services. Performance occurs in Hopelawn, New Jersey, with the organization delivering housing and supportive services in the Perth Amboy area and surrounding communities. The award period runs from May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027. The Continuum of Care Program promotes community-wide commitment to ending homelessness and provides funding for nonprofit providers to quickly house homeless individuals and families while minimizing trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness, promoting access to mainstream programs, and optimizing self-sufficiency.
