The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $304,876 Continuum of Care Program (CFDA 14.267) Project Grant to Families Moving Forward, a nonprofit organization and domestic shelter, on March 11, 2025. The grant will fund a range of housing assistance and supportive services to help quickly rehouse individuals and families experiencing homelessness while minimizing trauma and promoting self-sufficiency. Eligible activities include permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing, transitional housing, homelessness prevention, and comprehensive support services such as case management, mental health/substance abuse treatment, and job training. In addition, Families Moving Forward acts as a sub-grantee, receiving an $80,000 award from the City of Durham to provide case management services to clients entering emergency shelters through the Coordinated Entry process. These grant funds demonstrate Families Moving Forward's involvement in a broad spectrum of community-based efforts to combat homelessness and support vulnerable populations.
