The Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded Vaya Health $561,230 on May 1, 2026, under the Continuum of Care Program (CFDA 14.267) to support homelessness prevention and housing stabilization activities in Asheville, North Carolina.
Vaya Health, a regional governmental entity and public managed care organization based in Asheville, will deploy Continuum of Care funding to establish and operate projects across five program components: permanent housing (including permanent supportive housing for persons with disabilities and rapid rehousing), transitional housing, supportive services only, Homeless Management Information Systems, and homelessness prevention. Eligible uses include COC planning activities, United Funding Agency costs for fiscal oversight and accounting, acquisition and rehabilitation of real property for housing or supportive services, and new construction. The award runs through April 30, 2027. Vaya Health serves multiple counties in western North Carolina and has prior experience administering HUD Continuum of Care funding alongside programs addressing mental health, substance use disorder treatment, and community support services for vulnerable populations.
