The Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded Vaya Health $677,822 on June 1, 2026, under the Continuum of Care Program (CFDA 14.267) to establish and operate homelessness interventions in Asheville, North Carolina.
The award funds five eligible program components: permanent housing including permanent supportive housing and rapid rehousing for persons with disabilities; transitional housing; supportive services only; Homeless Management Information Systems; and homelessness prevention. Eligible costs include COC planning activities, United Funding Agency fiscal control and accounting functions, acquisition and rehabilitation of real property for housing or supportive services, and new construction or building additions.
The performance period runs from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027. Vaya Health is a regional governmental entity and public managed care organization serving multiple counties in western North Carolina, specializing in behavioral health and social services with a focus on mental health, substance abuse treatment, and community support for vulnerable populations including individuals with serious mental illness and homeless persons.
