The recipient will create a micro-museum space to display physical artifacts and printed and recorded stories, conduct outreach to elders, families, and artists to collect stories for cataloging, recording, physical display, and digital preservation, and deliver Ojibwe artist talks and hands-on cultural learning activities including traditional storytelling and traditional art creation. The project will enhance remote library book houses with culturally relevant materials and activity kits. Work takes place in Baraga, Michigan, and will serve the over 3,000 tribal citizens within the project service area. The period of performance runs through September 30, 2028.
