This Project Grant award of $1,075,000.00 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Congressionally Identified Awards and Projects program (CFDA 11.469) supports the meaningful engagement of Alaskan Inuit and Indigenous knowledge as part of the U.S. delegation to the Central Arctic Ocean Fisheries Agreement. The 3-year award period from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027 will fund staff and leadership time to facilitate, coordinate, manage, and oversee the engagement of Alaskan Inuit delegates from the North Slope, Northwest Arctic, Bering Strait, and Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta regions. Additionally, the grant supports the travel for these Alaskan Inuit delegates to participate in annual meetings, conferences, and regional/domestic engagement activities related to the fisheries agreement.

The inuit circumpolar council community funded project is to support the meaningful engagement of alaskan inuit and indigenous knowledge as part of the U.S. Delegation to the central arctic ocean fisheries agreement. The support of this process requires staff and leadership time to facilitate, coordinate, manage, and oversee the engagement of alaskan inuit from the north slope, northwest arctic, bering strait, and yukon-kuskokwim delta regions. This funding also supports the travel for alaskan inuit delegates to directly engage in annual meetings that rotate through the 10 party states, annual alaskan inuit delegates meeting, annual U.S. Delegation meetings, an annual international conference, and regional/domestic engagement meetings over a 3-year period.
