This Project Grant award of $337,783 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program (CFDA 14.267) is intended to support community-wide efforts to quickly house homeless individuals and families in Flint, Michigan while minimizing trauma and promoting self-sufficiency. The grant recipient, Shelter Of Flint Inc., is a non-profit organization that will use the funding to provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, and supportive services to the local homeless population. Key activities to be performed include operating emergency shelter facilities, delivering case management and direct client assistance, and helping transition homeless individuals and families into permanent housing. Through this HUD CoC Program award, Shelter Of Flint Inc. aims to decrease homelessness in the Flint area by shortening the length of time people experience homelessness, reducing recidivism, and increasing exits to permanent housing.
